Industry-specific safety classes

BWC encourages Ohio employers participating in the Industry-Specific Safety Program (ISSP) to use the Division of Safety & Hygiene (DSH) safety services and programs to train their employees about safety policies and procedures specific to their industry.

Courses emphasize the practical application of safety principles, effective safety and claims management practices, safety culture development, regulatory compliance, risk management, and BWC programs.

The Industry-Specific safety classes matrix identifies applicable courses for each industry, based on the primary National Council on Compensation Insurance manual number assigned to the employer’s policy number. Below the matrix, we also provide a list of courses that apply to any industry.

Only DSH Industry-Specific classes and webinars are eligible for loss prevention activity credit. Attendance at an Industry-Specific class will result in a maximum of one loss prevention activity credit, no matter how many employees from the same employer attend the class, or the length of the class (one day, up to five days).
