We're pleased to invite Ohio's health-care providers and staff to a free, world-class educational opportunity. Our fourth annual symposium focuses on "Comprehensive Care for an Injured Worker". Join us for the latest information covering best practices in the safe and effective medical care of injured workers.

We have requested FREE continuing education credits for many licensed health-care professionals. 

Important: This year’s event will not run concurrently with the BWC Ohio Safety Congress & Expo, March 6 - 8, 2019.

This year's symposium offers two educational tracks for you and your staff.

  • Provider clinical education for health-care professionals
  • Staff forum (Friday only) for office support staff

Provider clinical education
Designed for health-care professionals, this track features leading state, national and international experts in their respective fields including:

  • Addiction.
  • Behavioral health.
  • Chiropractic medicine.
  • Concussions.
  • Medical marijuana.
  • Pharmacology.
  • Physical medicine and rehabilitation

Topics include:

  • BWC's medical initiatives for injured workers and providers.
  • Chemical dependency hazards of health-care professionals.
  • Clinician/patient collaboration and trust.
  • Management of mild traumatic brain injury patients.
  • Medical marijuana nationally and in Ohio.
  • Opioid drug epidemic.
  • Practical, effective, chiropractic best practices.

Staff forum
This track offers a full day (Friday, April 26) of education designed specifically for provider office staff related to key workers' compensation policies and procedures. We recommend office staff/administrators who manage the day-to-day operations of workers’ compensation processes and workflows within a health-care system or provider’s office attend this track.

  • BWC's medical initiatives for injured workers and providers.
  • Proper billing and reimbursement processes.
  • The terms causation, maximum medical improvement, substantial aggravation and more.
  • Vocational rehabilitation and transitional work programs.

Staff forum continuing education (CE) contact hours requested for:

  • Case manager (CCM).
  • Disability management specialist (CDMS).
  • International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).
  • Nurses (CNP, LPN and RN).
