Living maintenance (LM) benefit
LM is paid to injured workers who are participating in a rehabilitation plan

Living Maintenance (LM) is compensation paid to an injured worker who is actively participating in an approved rehabilitation plan. However, the injured worker has a right to refuse to participate in rehabilitation.
Ohio Revised Code (ORC) 4121.63 states that BWC will issue this compensation for a period not to exceed six (6) months, unless a review by BWC determines that the injured worker will benefit from an LM extension.

Requesting LM benefits

A BWC Claims Service Specialist (CSS) can issue the LM benefit when BWC receives the injured worker’s vocational rehabilitation agreement and plan. No form submittal is required for this benefit. The Disability Management Coordinator (DMC) assigned to monitor the injured worker’s Vocational Rehabilitation Agreement will let the injured worker know if he/she meets the criteria for receiving LM.
