Michaela Peterson Baumann joined BWC in March 2019 with 17 years of legal experience in the public sector. BWC is the third state agency Peterson Baumann has had the privilege of serving as Chief Legal Counsel.
Peterson Baumann started her public career as a staff attorney in the Franklin County Common Pleas Court. She later moved to the Ohio Department of Transportation, where she oversaw the Investigations Unit as well as the Equal Opportunity Division. She also focused much of her time in Labor and Employment.
In 2011, Peterson Baumann started her role as Chief Legal Counsel to the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, where she served until her appointment to BWC. In this role, she oversaw two regulatory divisions and the security unit while providing daily guidance on all matters related to the agency's psychiatric hospital system.
Peterson Baumann is a graduate of The Ohio State University and Capital University Law School.
